Keeping Threats at Bay with Armoured Platforms

Armouring platforms have become a crucial priority for the armed forces of the world, today. Wondering why? Well, to protect platforms from threats that can be envisaged and also from those that can hit by surprise. Thus, armoured platforms are the best way to keep all threats at bay.

Now, since there is no dearth of platform protection solutions out there, it is necessary that you choose one that can be maintained easily and does not over compromise performance of the platforms, apart from obviously serving as great armour.

For the longest time, steel was used to build most platform protection solutions for most of the genres as steel was a relatively cheaper material and could be cut in any desired shape. However, with the diverse demographic deployments and new evolved threats, traditional steel armoured platforms cannot be guaranteed protection from heavy machine guns, cannons and armour piercing ammunitions. But steel has its own set of concerns for the platforms to be armoured, even though offers structural rigidity.

In the long run, steel armour solutions for platforms can surge fuel consumption, grow maintenance costs, lower payload capacities, and reduce platform’s life, along with other array of challenges. Thus, may compromise their performance. This is when the users have to ultimately trade off these platforms.

On the other hand, platform protection solutions that are made using composite material are an expert solution with many advantages. They offer excellent power to weight ratio performance, increased pay load capabilities, increased platform life, optimum fuel consumption and reduced carbon footprint, lower ownership cost, and reduced cost of obsolescence management. Thus, they are best for armoured platforms.
